Kayaking and sea kayaking are high energy sports which provide challange and excitment to people of all ages. We have single person kayaks that provide a fast and highly manouverable way of getting about on the water.
At the Burren Outdoor education centre our introductory kayaking session takes place on a local bay about 5 minutes drive from the centre. We supply kayaks, wet suits and all necesssary safety equipment. We can tailor the session to suit your requirements: you can have a fun based session, playing games and taking a short tour of the bay, afterwards we can return to the centre for hot showers.
We can also run skill-based sessions and courses, with the emphasis on learning or developing skills, techniques and of course, safety – these are best run over a few days or evenings or a weekend.
The variety of local coastlines from Galway Bay and around into the Atlantic Ocean offers plenty of locations for Sea Kayaking from sheltered bays and islands to exposed headlands or even the Cliffs of Moher( for experienced kayakers only) .
The centre can also run F.E.T.A.C. courses and Irish Canoe Union proficiency and instructor awards.
