AN GAISCE PROGRAMMES
Burren OEC is an approved Gaisce centre to host groups participating in The Presidents award. We provide several options for completion of the Adventure Journey section of An Gaisce Awards.
At the Burren Outdoor Education Centre we offer:
- BOEC guide and self catering. One of our instructors will walk with you, providing first aid cover and local information. Your group will be responsible for all food and catering using our kitchens.
- BOEC guide and catering provided. One of our instructors will walk with you, providing first aid cover and local information. Our kitchen staff will provide breakfast and lunch, the group should plan, prepare and cook their dinner.
- Self guiding and self catering. Just use BOEC as a hostel perfectly located in the heart of the Burren
Prices vary according to your choice.
A number of hikes (25 kms for the bronze level award) are available which fulfill the award requirements, these are best taken over 1 and a 1/2 days. We can provide the necessary training, support and facilities to help you complete this task. Our staff can advise you on your selection of walking routes and any preparation required. We can also offer accommodation and kitchen facilities (catered or self-catering).
Please remember an important aspect of this award is that the students are involved in the planning and completion of the challenge.
