Adult Courses at Burren Outdoor Education & Training Centre

All our activity and field study options are available as taster sessions for adult groups as well! A group of friends, a work group, a choir, a work team:  what ever your group is we can give you a fun filled half-day, full day multi-activity programme of excitement and adventure!

The activities also offer a superb medium for team development and training, using the outdoors as a venue for exploring team work, planning, communication and leadership. Please contact us for more details.

Introduction to Navigation and Map Reading

Practice and develop your skills in orienteering, map reading, using a compass and navigation. This can be done over a day or a series of days. .  

Navigation and Mountain Training

The Burren OETC can provide Mountain Skills training and assessments. These are run on behalf of BOS, the Irish Mountain Training Board. Mountain skills courses take place over two weekends with an additional weekend required for assessment. Training takes place in the Burren and Connemara hills and topics covered include map reading and navigation, self location, mountain safety and night navigation.

Cave Training

Burren OETC can facilitate a number of cave training courses, in conjunction with the SUI. These include cave fundamentals, basic cave leader and cave leader training courses

Sea Kayaking / Kayaking

Burren OETC can provide training for sea kayaking and kayaking skills and proficiencies as well as arrange Level 1 and 2 instructor training.

First Aid

We can organise training and assessment for the Rescue & Emergency Care award (REC)
