Every year we run an evening course about local geology and landscapes.
Stone, water and Ice: the Burren – a landscape shaped by time.
This course is an introduction to the geology of the Burren aimed at anyone with an interest in the Burren and a curious mind. It runs for 5 evenings usually in February/March for 2 hours each evening at the Burren Outdoor Education Centre in Bell Harbour.
Topics covered include: an introduction to geology; the geology of Ireland; the geology of the Burren; fossils; geological maps; geology and the Burren landscape. On the last night there we usually host a guest speaker.
The course is designed to be relaxed, informative and practical, no previous knowledge of geology is required.
There are no exams but there is tea/coffee and biscuits included!
A half day field trip is also included usually towards the end of the course.
